Queens Pride House Celebrates 15 Years

Queens Pride House honorees.

Queens Pride House, an LGBT community center serving what is widely regarded as the most ethnically and racially diverse county in the United States, celebrated its 15 anniversary at Novo, a Jackson Heights restaurant, on September 27. Providing health support, education and referral programs, youth training, and cultural and social events, Pride House serves roughly 6,000 clients. .

Pictured above are honoree Selena M. Blake, a documentarian who directed “Taboo Yardies,” a film look at homophobia in Jamaica; honoree Ross D. Levi, vice president for marketing initiatives at Empire State Development and the former executive director of the Empire State Pride Agenda; Raphael Miranda, weekend meteorologist and weather producer for NBC New York, who served as the evening’s emcee; Pauline Park, board president and acting executive director of Queens Pride House; volunteer of the year honoree Daniel Cano, a social work student at Hunter College; and Charles J. Ober, the Queens Pride House treasurer.
